Famous Golfing In Kauai

It’s no wonder that golfers everywhere love coming to Kauai and that many Kauai residents love hitting the green. Kauai has some of the best golfing anywhere, with 3 of the top 15 Hawaii golf courses being found here. Whether you’re here for a weekend or relocating to Kauai permanently, you’re sure to always have a course open and calling your name. They’re rarely too far of a distance either, considering that Kauai isn’t an enormous island. Of the most popular places to stay among golfers in the area are the Poipu Kai Resort and Whaler’s Cove. Here are some spectacular golf courses to consider while you’re in Kauai.

Kauai Lagoons Golf Club

The design here is that of Jack Nicklaus, and Travel Leisure Golf named this 18-hole course the most “underrated” golf resort in Hawaii. It’s nestled into Lihue’s lush scenery and the fairways wind around the lagoons. Both novice and expert golfers alike will find the course enjoyable, with the 18 holes consisting of the Kiele 9 and Maile 9. The Kiele 9 is the more difficult half with the famed Nicklaus’ touch being obvious to any avid golfer.

Kauai’s Kukuiolono Golf Course

You may not find this public, 9-hole course at the top of most of the lists, which really leaves you to be that much more impressed when you arrive. It’s situated atop of an extinct Kauai volcano and is the eighth oldest golf course found in Hawaii. In fact, it used to be on sugar plantation estate. This course is very beautiful and doesn’t strip your wallet like many other fancier, private, expensive golf courses in Hawaii may do. Volunteer a contribution and play all day if you want to. The seductive views are highlighted by panning ocean scenes as well as gorgeous mountain views. While enjoying a game of golf here you’re treated to a 360-degree view of the southwestern area of Kauai. You’ll even find a delightful bonsai garden right smack dab in the middle fairway. Beginners will be able to enjoy a day of golf here since there aren’t many hazards and the fairways are nice and wide. More adept players will still find a challenge with the trade winds that’s experienced on this course, too.

Although there’s only nine holes you can change it up somewhat since they feature two tees one each. There’s a clubhouse, driving range, putting green, electric carts, and pull carts available. Princeville at Hanalei

If you’re looking for something a little more prestigious then you should check out the Prince Golf Course and the Makai Course. They’re both found at Princeville at Hanalei and commonly reign in awards from the likes of “Gold Digest” and “Golf Week”. Slopes found throuout the 18-hole Prince Golf Course demand your respect and well though out playing strategies and the views are spectacular, hovering 300 feet above the ocean below.

Kauai, Hawaii certainly has some of the best golfing opportunities in the world, from the never-touched-a-green to calling-the-green-home.
